The Hummer H3T

Grinch's picture

This has to be the sweetest truck ever designed. Ever since I heard about this beauty I have been lusting over it. Hummer announced the pricing for the H3T on Friday and I was a bit shocked at the starting price.

The H3T is highly customizable and just plain awesome. I severely want one but not at $31,495 USD starting. Considering SUV and truck sales are plummeting daily in the U.S. due to high fuel costs this just seems a bit silly. Of course most of the price is due to the Hummer name. If it was a Kia it would probably be $12,000. Could I afford that? I could but just because I can afford something doesn't mean I am going to buy it. If it was in the low 20's I might consider it but I guess I will have to wait a couple of years and pick up a used one.

The thing that gets me is it is a mid-sized truck. If you have ever seen a Chevy Colorado then you know what a mid-size truck is. The 2008 Chevy Colorado starts at $16,050, almost half of what the Hummer H3T comes in at. So how is Hummer planning on pulling this off? I bet once you pick all your fancy options the H3T will be over 40k. That is absurd for a mid-size truck n matter who makes it and how awesome it is.

So I am a little disappointed and heart broken. I may have to go test drive one though just for the hell of it later this year when they finally arrive. Oh well.

This looks like a Tonka

This looks like a Tonka truck! It is not family friendly either. When the kids are out of the house then you get your ear pierced, wear gold chains, and drive the cool car.

But its cool

My truck at the moment isn't family friendly. But there is an extended cab version so that takes care of the family friendliness.

Come on, I want it soooooo bad. Be a sport :)

I agree

I agree with Jenny, not practical at all. And what's the gas mileage on this thing, like 10 mpg?

Gas Mileage?

Who cares what the gas mileage is, I only drive 4 miles a day.

The Pendulum Swings both Ways!

How sweet it is...It's a great truck right? Wow, but the price tag is really outrageous! Although, I'm sure you do work hard for your money and how often do you really get to treat yourself? Everything is always about the kids and the family which it SHOULD be! Patience is a virtue-like you said if you wait a few years-maybe find a used one? Maybe, other manufacturers will come out with something like it only cheaper...It's not all about the "Name Brand" or the looks or all the bells and whistles. It does "rock" but it probably rocks the budget as well...hmmmmmmmmm, If you do only drive 4 miles a day...I would definately wait, good things come to those who wait!

Of course

I have heard from several well known finance gurus that the dumbest thing you could ever do is purchase a brand new vehicle. Of course everyone wants to be the cool guy on the block with the latest stuff it just isn't practical. The truck I drive now is paid for, my wife's vehicle is almost paid for so me buying a brand new truck would be very unwise. Plus I can't see spending 31k on a vehicle I will only drive for 10 minutes a day. I think I can wait until 2010 and pick up a used one, no problem there.
