My wife, god bless her, cannot keep Christmas presents a secret. She never has. She had told me she bought some Christmas presents yesterday in an e-mail. I knew as soon as I got home she would want me to open at least one if not all. I was right as usual.
She got me a black 8GB Zune, the second generation one. The thing is cool as hell. I have never owned an MP3 player before now so I cannot say whether or not it is better than an iPod. I have a strange hatred towards Apple and I refuse to own any of their products. That is why I wanted the Zune. I am not disappointed in my decision.
Besides having 8GB of storage it also has wireless capabilities and an AM/FM tuner. It will play music files along with video. It can store pictures and podcasts. The controls are stupid simple and doesn't take much to figure it all out. The Zune software was very simple to setup and syncing my music files was a snap. I couldn't ask for much more.
8GB equals about 1300 songs which is plenty for me. I filled it up within 20 minutes. I have about 20GB's of music stored on my hard drive at home. That is the only drawback to the 8GB version but it really isn't that big of a deal. 1300 songs is an assload of music. If each song is four minutes long that equates to 86 hours of listening pleasure. Now if I want to watch a movie on it I will have to remove songs in order to make room for a video file. I can get a video down to about 700MB about 162 songs. Not bad at all in my opinion. I didn't have any video files to test but I will be sure to here soon.
Overall I am happier than a pig in shit. An awesome gift if I do say so myself. I'm sure to get at least one person to comment on the superiority of Apples iPod. To them all I can say is blow it out your ass, I don't care.

Apple iPods are superior

(Damn that's hard to say using only farts and two butt cheeks.)
Never used one
19 December 2007 - 1:03pm — GrinchI have never used an iPod so I cannot comment on the superiority of the iPod. But I have used a Zune and I absolutely love it for what I use it for.
As someone well and truly in
24 December 2007 - 1:51am — battye (not verified)As someone well and truly in the Mac camp, I can say that my iPod does everything I want it to. I've never used a Zune - hell, I've never even seen one in Australia - so I can't make any comparisons. I do like the iTunes/iPod/iTunes Store package though. I'm not sure what media package the Zune has (please tell me it's not Windows Media Player), but buying a song off iTunes and having it sync immediately to the iPod is very user-friendly.
Good Points
26 December 2007 - 9:05am — GrinchI don't purchase music so I cannot comment on the auto sync with music bought from Microsoft's Zune Store but I am pretty sure it has the same feature. Of course Windows Media Player is the preferred player and that is fine. I don't mind WMP, I am using it right now as we speak.
But my Zune does everything I want it to as well and has a few extra features that the iPod doesn't have.
