3. MetaFrame Presentation Server Installation
3.1 Installing Windows 2003 Enterprise Server
Please refer to the documentation you received with the Windows 2003 operating system package to install the OS on each server that will run MetaFrame Presentation Server. Please install the latest services packs and patches on all servers.
3.2 Install SQL Server 2000
- Place the SQL 2000 CD into the CD-ROM drive of the server. The following screen should appear. Select ‘SQL Server 2000 Components’
- Select the ‘Install Database Server’ option..
- On the following screen click NEXT
- Select ‘Local Computer’, then click NEXT
- Select ‘Create a new instance of SQL Server, or install Client Tools,’ then click on NEXT
- Fill in information below as appropriate for the project, and select next to continue.
- Agree to Licensing information and type in CD code when prompted.
- Select ‘Server and Client Tools’, then click NEXT
- Leave ‘Default’ check and select NEXT
- Select ‘Typical’ and change destination folders if necessary, otherwise leave the defaults and select NEXT
- Select ‘Use the same account for each service. Auto start SQL Server Service’ and under ‘Service Settings’ select ‘Use the Local System account.’ Click on NEXT to continue
- Select ‘Mixed Mode (Windows Authentication and SQL Server Authentication)’ and enter is “sa” in the password field. Select NEXT to continue.
- Select NEXT on the following screen
- Enter the appropriate number of “PER SEAT” licenses that were purchased with the SQL server package. Then click CONTINUE.
- Installation will begin and you will see the following prompt when it is complete, select FINISH to complete the installation.
3.3 Configuration of SQL Server
3.3.1 Creating Data Store
- Click Start –» Programs –» Microsoft SQL Server –» Enterprise Manager
- Click on the ‘+’ sign till you get to the ‘Databases’ level
- Right click on ‘Databases’ and select ‘New Database…’ from the drop down list. This will allow you to create a new database for holding the MetaFrame information.
- On the ‘General’ tab type in “MetaFrame” in the ‘Name’ field. Then click OK.
3.3.2 Creating SQL MetaFrame Account
- Click on the ‘+’ sign next to ‘Security’ then click on ‘Logins.’
- Right click on ‘Logins’ and select ‘New Login…’ from the drop down menu
- In the Name Field type in “MetaFrame” and under authentication select ‘SQL Server Authentication’ and enter a password of ‘Citrix.’ This account will be used later on in the procedure for the ODBC connection for the MetaFrame servers.
- Click on ‘Server Roles’ tab and select the following options.
- Click on ‘Database Access’ tab and select the following options.
- Click on OK to complete creating the account.
- You will then be prompted to confirm the password for this account. Enter the password and click OK
