Some of you may have read my other tutorial on locking down a user profile using the registry. This tutorial does the same thing but utilizes Group Policy in an Active Directory environment. This setup works flawlessly using Windows XP Service Pack 2. I have not gotten around to testing this on Windows Vista.

This is perfect for setting up kiosk machines where you do not want a user to make any changes to the system and prevent them from accessing anything besides what you want them to. In my case we use this profile on systems where the user is required to be monitoring a security application. They do not need access to anything else but this application. Their job is boring so this also keeps them from playing games, installing games, browsing the network. All they get is their application.

This tutorial will not have a lot of screen shots due to the fact that most of them will be very repetitive. Enjoy.
