2007 end today for us in the United States and I thought I would take some time to sat farewell to this year and welcome in 2008.
But before I do I want to discuss something I saw this morning. I had to drive into work this morning due to the Marc trains running on a holiday schedule that affected my travels. I figured since a lot of people would be off today the drive would be nice. It was better than usual but still a pain in the ass.
I was coming down Interstate 270 South heading into Washington D.C.. The normal log jam that occurs when I-70 and I-270 meet was not there. I was pleasantly surprised. However, my smile faded quickly as we came to a stand still. I was creeping along at 5mph cussing and screaming at the cars around me when we came upon an accident in the Northbound lanes. A pick-up truck was upside down in the middle of the road. About five cars were pulled over in the left shoulder of the Southbound lanes and everyone was rubber necking. I didn't see any other car that could have been involved. My assumption is maybe the person fell asleep and jumped the Jersey wall causing the car to flip. I could be way off base though.
Traffic started moving again but at 45mph and the speed limit is 65. This was aggravating me. About two miles go buy and in the Northbound lane there is another truck on its side in the ditch. Again I see no other car that could have been involved. Of course everyone has to slow down and gawk at the accident.
We start moving again at 45mph. A few miles down the road I see road flares and police lights and a tow truck backing into another ditch on the Northbound side. We all slow down again. I never did see the car but obviously there was one.
A few more miles down the road we find another vehicle sideways on the shoulder of the Northbound side. No other vehicle in sight. I was amazed. I have never seen that many accidents on one stretch of road before. The conditions outside were moist. It wasn't raining but there was a fine mist. It was 33 degrees out but no ice that I encountered. No fog, no nothing. What the hell was wrong with Northbound I-270 this morning? What a way to close out 2007 for those unlucky bastards.
On to saying goodbye to 2007. 2007 has been a good year for me and my family. The number one highlight of this year is the purchase of our first home. And what a beautiful home it is. For those who don't know it was built in 2001. It two-story, 2500 square foot, four bedroom, two and a half bath house. It sits on a corner lot which is one third of an acre. Gorgeous if I do say so myself. Another big deal this year is I was offered a job by the people I am contracted to making a lot more money. But due to the standoff on the budget I have been anxiously awaiting my start date. Now the budget has been signed I am sure things will start moving forward on that. We also moved to West Virginia. This was a very stressful and pain in the ass move. We moved ourselves and I rented a truck that was a bit too small so we had to rent a trailer as well. Thank god my stepfather came out to help otherwise I don't think we would have done it. My kids seem to be much happier here. The schools seem a bit better.
So all in all 2007 was a pretty good year. We had a lot of stress this year but it has been good stress.
As far as New Year Resolutions, I don't have any. There are things that I would like to accomplish but I am not going to resolve to do them. No one ever sticks to them so why make them.
2008 looks to be a much better year and I am looking forward to it. Financially it will be a much better year for us. I like the sound of that.
I hope the rest of you had a good 2007 and I wish you all the best for 2008.

31 December 2007 - 11:49am — jennyI know what I want for the new year. I want people to stop complaining all the damn time. Unless you have a horrible disease or something to that degree. Life is what you make of it. If you don't like your life change it.
That would be nice
31 December 2007 - 1:00pm — GrinchPeople don't like change. It is hard for people to elevate themselves. But it does get rather tiresome listening to people complain about the same shit over and over again when you know for a fact they made no attempt to change their situation. Of course some things are easier to overcome than others.
Happy New Year baby.
Happy New Year Bro!
