Today is the last day I can be considered a contractor. It is the end of yet another chapter of my life. This chapter has been a good one. Being a contractor got my foot into the door and now I finally stepped though and am moving on.
The company I worked for was not a bad one. I would actually recommend them highly to anyone who wants to work in the DC area and has at least a Secret security clearance. If you are interested just contact me and I will get you in touch with someone at HR. They are always looking for talented IT folks ranging in skills from network engineers to system administrators and everything in between. They also favor prior military folks due to our outstanding work ethic. They pay pretty well and the benefits aren't bad. Working for them will open up a multitude of opportunities.
So what happens to me on Monday? Not much. I still have the exact same job just as a full time employee instead of a contractor. Pretty cool if you ask me. A little bit more pay and better benefits so it is a win-win situation. It will also take an act of Congress for me to lose my job. I'm not joking about that either.
There you have it. Life couldn't get much better for me.
