I strive to bring you nothing of importance

December

Ain't it December
can't you remember
It's getting cold
we're feeling old
Days are getting shorter
scrounged up one more quarter
I think it's gonna snow
or did you already know
Blue skies are going gray
these times are when we want to pray
Ice is forming on the road
it's time to watch life corrode
Working hard but it's no sweat
wasting the sun is your regret
Learning to cope with darker nights
a frozen moon hides your lights
Christmas comes and the New Year goes
Can you feel the frost on your toes?
Bitter winds steal your soul
numb fingers gather coal
try to light a cozy fire
no chimney smoke to take you higher
The summer months are years away
a frosty grave you will stay
Should have taken a southern flight
instead of staying for the winter fight
Blizzards cover up all signs of life
try to kill your meals with a butter knife
Slowly dying because life is numb
remember back to when you sucked your thumb
Warm blankets and a mom to care
now you're hungry and the cupboards bare
Snowflakes fall but bring a false smile
Santa Claus dies on his last mile
Virgin white snow and dead cold heart
migrating birds never looked so smart
I wish I could wake up the hibernating sun
melt the snow and keep Jack Frost on the run
It sure is December
I wish we'd remember
It's been cold
never felt so old
We have spent out last quarter
our lives are getting shorter
I know it's going to snow
but do we really know
Our lives are turning gray
losing time for us to pray
Ice overtaking all we see
It's time for us to never be
