My life on the internet has not always been on the up and up. I can't count how many DMCA complaints Comcast has sent me over the years for my dubious internet activity. I have since slowed down on doing things that are deemed illegal. So hearing about this website is one of the best things I have seen in a while.
Joox is a website that streams full length movies. I cannot vouch for the legality of this site but it really doesn't matter from my point of view. You are not downloading anything (which you can by the way), all you are doing is viewing streaming content much like YouTube. According to their FAQ, they are backed by another company who actively scans for copywrited material and will pull it from the site. However, if this were true, there would be no content on the site. So I am a little curious about that. But the quality of the movies are very good. The are all encoded as DivX. New content is added daily.
I mentioned the ability of downloading the stuff. I don't really condone this but since the ability is there I will discuss it. Right now the number one way to download movies is by using the BitTorrent protocol. If you pay attention to technology related news you will know that a lot of internet providers (Comcast included) are trying to block BitTorrent (BT) usage. What is cool about Joox is you download it just like you would download any other file on the internet, using HTTP. As far as your ISP can figure you are downloading a big file, nothing really wrong with that. I'm sure they can peek into the packets and derive what you are doing but they are too concentrated on screwing up BT that they probably won't notice.
Check it out and you will probably agree that it is one of the best sites out there.
