I have a few things to discuss today.

First, the Bears have benched Rex Grossman and put Brian Griese at the helm. Hopefully this proves to be a smart move. As I said previously, he can't do any worse.

Secondly, someone made a comment to my wife about some National Guardsmen they know. She said they didn't sign up to go to war. Oh really? Every person who enlists into the military has to take an Oath of Enlistment. Here is the version the National Guard uses:

I, (NAME), do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States and the State of (STATE NAME) against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; and that I will obey the orders of the President of the United States and the Governor of (STATE NAME) and the orders of the officers appointed over me, according to law and regulations. So help me God.

Hmmm, It seems to me they did sign up for war. In the oath it states

I will obey the orders of the President of the United States

At the moment the orders from the President are to go fight a war in Iraq. Regardless of your view of the war, that is your order. That is your duty until told otherwise. When I enlisted into the Marine Corps, I knew that if there was a war I would go. No questions asked, do not pass Go and do not collect your $200. Your duties in the military regardless if you are active duty, reserve or National Guard is to do whatever the President says. If you don't want to fight, don't enlist. If you have enlisted and don't want to fight any more, don't re-enlist. Simple as that. I'm tired of hearing these stories of military men and women stating this isn't what we signed up for. What the fuck did you expect? This is what the military is in place for. The military wasn't designed for you to get a college education or to sit around on your ass collecting a paycheck. If that were the case you would be issued a desk and a backpack instead of a rifle. Stop bitching and do your damn job so we can get this war over with.
