8.1 Appendix A - Using a Virtual Drive

Newer computers are routinely being built without a floppy drive. A floppy drive is needed to create Ghost boot floppies. If the PC being used to create the floppy disk does not have a floppy drive, a virtual floppy drive can be used. The following steps outline the procedure for downloading and installing a virtual floppy drive program.

7. Creating the Ghost Image

Now that the boot floppy and/or the boot CD is created the Ghost Image can now be created. The following steps outline the process necessary to complete the task.

7.1 Creating the Shared Folder for Images

On the computer that will be storing the images a shared folder must be created in order for Norton Ghost to save the image.

6. Bootable CD

Not all computers come equipped with a floppy drive. The need to create a bootable Ghost CD is increasing. Also, CD‘s are less likely to become corrupt and lose data. The following steps provide the proper information to create a bootable CD. A boot floppy is needed prior to creating the CD.
