Lucky 13
Grinch — Thu, 01/14/2010 - 16:51
Today marks thirteen years of marriage between my wife and I. I don't thin anyone really counted on us making it this far but somehow we did. Maybe it is pure stubborness that has kept us together for so long. But I truly believe we still love each other enough to work through the inevitable problems a marriage will face.
These 13 years have not come without ups and downs. I would love to say our marriage has been nothing but unicorns farting rainbows but that is unrealistic.
My Poor Chicago Bears
Grinch — Wed, 01/06/2010 - 18:06
If you don't know, I am a Chicago Bears fan. After the 2009 season though that is not something to be proud of. It was a very disappointing season from a fans perspective but it is over and now we can look forward to the 2010 season which should prove to be interesting.
Happy 2010
Grinch — Fri, 01/01/2010 - 23:44
Happy New Year. As you can see, the new year brought a new look for GrinchyNet. I hope you like it and feel free to let me know whether or not you like it. I have been wanting to make this change for quite a while now and figured the new year would be a perfect time for it.
Stephen King: Under the Dome
Grinch — Tue, 12/01/2009 - 16:26
I am a huge Stephen King fan, been one since I was a wee boy. So needless to say I had a copy of his new book Under the Dome the day it came out thanks to an awesome wife I have. I finished the book yesterday and thought I would share my views of the book.
The book is long, around 1100 pages. The story is good. The ending sucked.
Citrix and my Triumph
Grinch — Wed, 11/18/2009 - 16:59
I have been battling with Citrix for a couple of months now, namely XenDesktop. I had it somewhat working at one point and the somehow broke it, don't remember exactly how but I did. Other projects came up that took my attention away from Citrix until about a week ago.
Where Have I Been?
Grinch — Sat, 10/24/2009 - 10:39
It seems like I have abandoned the site but I haven't. Just been extremely busy with life on all fronts. Work, family and whatever else. It has been a crazy time for me and exhausting.
What a Mess I Made
Grinch — Wed, 07/29/2009 - 18:57
I consider myself pretty good at what I do for a living. I don't make a lot of mistakes, I try and stay current with technology and so on. I am confident in my abilities as a SysAdmin but today was one of those days where I felt like a complete noob.
As I mentioned in a post a while back, we are moving into the virtualization world and so far it has been a pretty cool migration. I have learned a lot and have had some very frustrating days. Today was one of those days.
Neglect
Grinch — Thu, 07/02/2009 - 17:00
I cannot believe it has been this long since I have posted anything. What a bed person I am but in my defense, my personal life has been way beyond hectic and continues to be that way. But a lot has gone on in the world and felt it necessary to at least say something.
Piracy and why it will continue
Grinch — Wed, 04/22/2009 - 15:43
Recently, the boys that run The Pirate Bay, the most infamous of the bit torrent trackers out there, were found guilty of copyright infringement. It is possible they will be spending some time in jail and paying a fine of around three million. I'm sure the RIAA and the MPAA and whomever else thinks this is a major victory but it really isn't and I will give you my personal reason why.
The End of Windows XP
Grinch — Wed, 04/08/2009 - 16:08
It appears that the end is near for Windows XP. Next week Microsoft is ending its support of the most popular of its operating systems. April 14th marks the end of its mainstream support. I think this is a very bad move.
Windows XP and Office 2003 will enter into what is known as extended support. What this means to you is that any bugs that are not security related will remain unless you feel like paying Microsoft to fix it. XP will only get security related hotfixes from Windows Update.
